Alerting and notifications
Configure email alerts
Add the people who should receive monitor alerts and recovery notifications when an incident changes state.
Add alert recipients
- Open the monitor from the dashboard.
- In Alert Configuration, turn on Enable Alerts.
- Enter the recipient address in Email Address.
- Save the alert configuration.
When alerts are enabled, configure at least one email address or an alert webhook. Email recipients receive alerts and, when enabled, recovery messages.
Address rules
- Every recipient must be an address belonging to a user of your account. Teammate invitations are not available yet, so for now that means your own account email — an address that is not on the account is rejected when you save.
- The complete field can contain up to 2,048 characters.
- Each address must contain a local part, an
@, and a domain. - Invalid addresses are rejected before the configuration is saved or tested.
What an alert email contains
An alert subject follows the pattern [Alert] Monitor name is down. The message includes the target, check type, classified failure reason, HTTP status code when available, response time, confirming regions, failure streak, confidence, failure timestamp, and an incident link when one is available.
What a recovery email contains
A recovery subject identifies the recovered monitor. The message includes the target, check type, outage duration, resolution timestamp, affected regions, and the incident link when one is available. Turn on Recovery notifications when recipients should be notified after the incident resolves.
