Create a monitor from the target outward

Start with the endpoint you want to watch. GetPulseCheck detects a suitable monitor type, then lets you review or override it before configuration.

Before you begin

Sign in to your GetPulseCheck account.
Have a URL, hostname, IP address, or host and port ready.

Create the monitor

From the dashboard, select New Monitor.
Enter a target. A value beginning with http:// or https:// is detected as HTTP. A plain hostname or IP address is detected as Ping. A host and port such as db.example.com:5432 is detected as TCP.
Review the detected type. The flow moves directly to configuration when the target is recognized.
Select Choose monitor type manually instead when you need a different type or the target cannot be detected. Choose HTTP, Ping, or TCP from the type cards.
Complete the type-specific configuration, select regions, and submit the form. The monitor is created and the dashboard can open its details.

Verify the result

Open the monitor details after creation. Confirm the target, selected regions, interval, and type-specific settings before relying on the first result.
