Escalation policies

Assign an escalation policy to a monitor

Attach an active policy to the monitors whose unacknowledged alerts should follow the policy's responder path.

Attach a policy

  1. Open the monitor from Dashboard and open its monitor settings.
  2. Find the Escalation Policy dropdown in the monitor form.
  3. Select the policy that should handle this monitor's alerts, then save the monitor changes.

Understand the routing change

  • An active policy with steps is used for the monitor's alert path when a new incident opens.
  • The policy applies only to alert delivery. Recovery notifications remain controlled by the monitor's alert configuration.
  • Acknowledging or resolving the incident stops later due escalation steps.
  • If no policy is assigned, the monitor uses its legacy single-notification behavior.
  • If the assigned policy is inactive, escalation falls back to the legacy single-notification path. Use an active policy for escalation routing.

Change or remove an assignment

  1. Open the monitor settings and select a different policy from the Escalation Policy dropdown.
  2. To return to legacy notifications, select None (legacy notifications) and save the monitor.
  3. If you delete a policy, it is soft-deleted and no longer runnable. Reassign affected monitors to another active policy or to the legacy option.

Policy assignment is tenant-scoped. The selected policy must belong to your workspace and must not be soft-deleted.
