Configure a Ping monitor
Use ICMP to check whether a hostname or IP address responds and to identify latency or packet-loss problems.
Set the target and check behavior
- Enter a valid hostname or IP address as the target.
- Choose a check interval from 1 minute to 1 hour. The default is 5 minutes.
- Set the timeout from 1 to 30 seconds. The default is 5 seconds.
- Set retries from 1 to 10 attempts. The default is 3.
- Set the ICMP packet size from 32 to 1472 bytes. The default is 56 bytes.
Set alert thresholds
- Set the latency threshold from 1 to 30000 ms. The default is 1000 ms.
- Set the packet-loss threshold from 1% to 100%. The default is 10%.
Use a latency threshold for slow responses and a packet-loss threshold for unreliable responses. Keep both values aligned with the behavior you consider degraded for the target.
